Ever since he was a kid, David P. Marion, DDS knew that dentistry was his calling.
Positive experiences with his childhood dentist inspired Dr. Marion to become one himself. As he explored the profession, he realized that it perfectly suited his interest in science, tinkering, and helping others.
To this day, Dr. Marion’s dentistry is motivated by the joy of making his patients happy. His team members give him another reason to look forward to coming into work. And, according to Dr. Marion, they also keep him on his toes.
A native Atlantan who grew up in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody, Georgia, Dr. Marion graduated in 1988 from the Emory University School of Dentistry. While studying there, he was a member of the Honor Council and wrote a research paper on peridontitis.
Dr. Marion’s Love of Dentistry
Dr. Marion has over 30 years of experience in dentistry with a focus on cosmetic and functional dentistry. He especially loves doing smile makeovers and enjoys helping his patients manage TMJ pain with his additional training in TMJ treatment. He’s convinced that a beautiful smile and a well-functioning smile are one and the same. Dr. Marion’s own past experiences with having a painful unbalanced bite drive his passion for creating balanced, functional, and beautiful bites for his patients.
Dr. Marion feels personally responsible for making sure that his patients’ smiles look great and that they feel confident in their appearance after receiving treatment in our office. To him, there’s no better feeling than seeing a patient discover a newfound self-confidence because of their smile.
When Dr. Marion was only 15 years old, his grandmother taught him a lesson that impressed upon him the importance of making sure his work is always presentable. That lesson has stuck with him down to this day and continues to impact the dental services he delivers.
But if you’d like to find out exactly what that lesson was, then you’ll have to ask Dr. Marion for the story in person!
Dr. Marion is dedicated to pursuing continuing education. He completes some 60 credits of continuing education each year while the State of Georgia only requires dentists to complete 20 credits per year. Dr. Marion has also attended the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education and has advanced training in TMJ treatment.
Dr. Marion showcases his artistry outside of the dental office with his hobbies of woodturning and woodworking. In his spare time, Dr. Marion also enjoys exploring the Appalachian Trail and cycling the back roads and trails of Georgia and North Carolina with his wife Paula. Together, they’ve raised one son who is in college and two feline “sons;” cats that they rescued and now spoil beyond belief.
For Dr. Marion, Atlanta is his forever home since this is where he can celebrate the journey of life with all of his friends and loved ones.
